Laila Majnu Ki Play - Part 3

Part 3

Jab patthar honge yeh makaan, inke bhi hogi ek zubaan
Ki dastan-e-laila majanu, shaqs shaqs dohraayega
Patthar ka dher yeh aaj yeh kal ka tajmahal kehlaayega
Nahi mil payega, nahi mil payega, phir waqt tumhein pachhtaane ko

Laila: Arey ab bas, garaj ke Laila boli.
Yeh araj nahi hai garaj garaj ki Laila boli
(That’s enough, Laila shouted with courage.
This is not fairness, it is injustice!)

TO FATHER: Theek yehi hai sharth agar, mein nikaah karoongi aaj,
theek yehi hai sharth agar, mein nikaah karoongi aaj,
par majnu ko abba nikal do sheher se bin awaaz
(Fine, if it is inevitable, then I will marry someone else,
if this is the condition, then I will marry today,
but you must allow Majnu to leave the town without a word).

Iss sheher ke saare pathar bhi ab thakke pade hain bechaare,
jo tujhe jaanke maare Majnu mujhe pade hain bechaare
(The stones here are tired of inflicting pain.
Those stones which you ordered to hit Majnu have fallen upon me).

Jawaan bakth ko badan diya, par dhadkan chode jaati hoon
(I’m giving my body to someone else, but my soul remains with Majnu),

Rakhna sambhal ke Qaiss aaj se zinda bhar kehlati hoon (Keep it safe with you),

bhaad maas ke badle mein mitti ka tiila paayega
(I swear if someone comes to touch my body, he will only find dust).
Aane waale kal mein yeh sansaar dara chillayega (future will witness),

Jab kabr hamaare phool chadhaane khuda zameen pe aayege
(When God will come to Earth to put flowers on our graves),

Jab khuda zameen pe aayega, jab khuda zameen pe aayega
(When God will come down here, when God will come down here…).

Laila’s Mother: Choodi, mehendi kaa laep, lagaaye deti hoon,
surk bhavakthi maang, sajaaye deti hoon
(Bangles and mehendi I will decorate you with,
and red vermillion on your forehead).

Iss doli mein ek sajii laash hai
(Within this bride, is a dressed corpse),

Dheeme le jaana, mein kahaar ko yeh samjhaaye deti hoon.
("Take it slowly", I will let the carriers know.)

Narrator: Jo nahi chadhi kaandhe kahar ke phir bhi dulhan kehlaayi, Radha mein raaki doli hai ,
ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq
ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq

Radha mein raaki doli hai ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq
ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq

ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq
ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq

Upar se aayi boli hai ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq
ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq

Husband: Mein jawaan bakth yeh mera dakth mere rehlom mein har aurat ho,
ash se rehti hai
(This is my den and I am in my youth,
every girl that comes her is pleased).

Par teri ghazab jawaani hai, tu haram ki meri raani hai,
sona chaandi to paani hai nehladoon tujhko
(You are also in your youth, and you are now my Queen in every way,
all these jewels are like water that I can just shower you with them).

(Now there’s no reason to wait,
I will just say it once and you will come to me,
so I can take advantage of you).

Laila: Tu mard badhan yeh sardko chalde isko!
(You are a man, run over this cold body,
there's no heat, no pain in it, tear it, it is mere ash,
come, reach out and blow it away,
it is dirt, mix it back into dirt, that it has fire,
beware you don't get burn,
that this rope can burn but the knots will not go away)

Husband: Arey mein shauhar hoon tera, na tera yaar na tera chaila hoon
(For heaven’s sake, I’m your husband, not your lover or your parrot).

Laila: Mein biwi hoon teri, aur apna Majnu ki mein Laila hoon
(I am you wife, but I will always be Majnu’s).

Husband: Yeh Majnu kaun hai chaup daar? (Who is this Majnu, messenger?)

Messenger: Woh duur, sheher se rehta hai, woh duur sheher se rehta hai,
bas Laila Laila kehta hai
(He lives far from town, he lives far away now
and repeatedly utters Laila’s name).

Pathar ke ghaaon hai khoon bharey, jis mein se bas khoon behtha hai
(The stones are filled with pain that only draw out blood).

Husband: Sippe salaar, aaga karo, auchalne ki taiyaari,
mein dekhoon iske yaar ko sang mein dekhoon inki yaari
(Draw your swords men and prepare for battle.
In each other’s presence I’ll see how strong their so called love is).

Laila: Yaari dekh ke darr jaayega pehle yahaan dekh,
uske khoon se mera badhan rana tu jahaan dekh
(O, you’ll be scared when you see it,
just take a look how his bruises make me bleed).

Narrator: Woh khusru ho ya bulle shahar shaks jalaa hai khamakha,
jisne yeh aag tatoli hai,
(Be it Khusrau or Bulle Shah (both old poets),
everyone who has touched this fire, has been burnt for no reason)
ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq
ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq

Jisne yeh aag tatoli hai ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq
ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq

Husband: Yaad aaye yeh jawaan bakth ke dekhoon Majnu tu ooncha,
ya tujhse ooncha mera dakth
(……lets see if you are greater, or if I really am the king).

Majnu: Laila ka maalik ho ke bhi chillaata kyun hai?
Jo ishq nahi aata aashiq kehla ta kyun hai?
(You’re Laila’s husband now so why are you yelling?
That which is not true love, how can you say it is?)

Woh khuda ki lii angdaayi hai, woh pyaar ki ek parchaayi hai,
har jang ki jismein khoon bahaa uske aage sharmaayi hai.
(She is the beautiful stretch of the God, she is a shadow of love,
she has shied from every war that caused bloodshed.)

Jab paap pade insaana samjha kya ghatlti ho aayi thi,
arey haqiiqat mein usko ek Laila na mil paayi thii.
(When the sins dawned upon the man, he realized the mistake.
In fact it was because he couldn't get a Laila.)

Ab mil paaye hain do uske kuch qadar nahi insaan tujhe,
taariq yaad karle na hona parjaaye kurbaan tujhe.
(Now when the two have met, you don't appreciate it.
Remember history, or else you may have to sacrifice yourself)

Narrator: Yeh sabhi mitaathe mit jaaye, ya sabhi lutaate lut jaaye,
varna phelaayi jholi hai ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq
ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq

Varna phelaayi jholi hai ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq
ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq ishq yeh ishq

Husband: Woh shamshaan hai tera. (That's your graveyard.)

Majnu: Woh imaan hai mera. (that's my honour)

Husband: Woh pitle aan hai tera.

Majnu: Woh anjaam hai mera. (that's my fate).

Husband: Teri goti kat jaayegi.

Majnu: Uske sadh kahin mein jaayegi.

Husband: Tujhe mein kaat baat doon aa. (I'l cut you open and distribute you).

Majnu: Laila bhi jaayegi saath! (Laila will also accompany me!)

Husband: Usse mein pehre mein rakhoonga,
usse mein pehre mein rakhoonga.
Teri yaad fatak naa paaye,
tu aheme gehre mein rakhoonga.
(I will keep her in watch,
I will keep her in watch.
I will keep her in such a deep place
that even your memory would't reach her)

Majnu: Itna bhi gehra khod kua woh nahi tujhe milpaayegi.
Mein jahan chodke jaaonga, woh waha chodke aayegi! Le maar!
(Your love is nothing that you'll be able to keep her.
Wherever I go, she will leave her place and come with me!)

Husband: Meri kataa! (My fault!)

Majnu: Arey tu maar! (Kill me!)

Husband: Sochle tu ek baar! (Think about it again!)

Majnu: Tu maar!

Husband: Sochle tu ek baar!

Majnu: Tu maar!

Husband: Meri kataa.

Majnu: Tu maar!

Husband: Sochle tu ek baar!

Majnu: Arey tu maar!
